Mapping between AquaCrop-OS input files and AquaCrop-OSPy classes

Greetings,
I’m struggling to map some of the input files produced by AquaCrop-OS, in particular .IRR and .CRO, to the relative AquaCrop-OSPy classes’ attributes.
Is there some documentation about this?
Someone have already done this before?

Thanks for any help.

Hi @iXB3

There is currently no official guide however in the next couple weeks ill upload a guide or video of how to map the crop parameters from AquaCrop windows to AquaCrop-OSPy. All the crop parameters are either displayed in the GUI (although you have to dig around for some). And many are in the .CRO file.

If you still struggle with some specific parameters let me know

Tom

Hi @tom
thanks for the support. Following some questions:

It seems that files .PRO or .PRM contains some important parameters (simulation start and end, p parameter to convert RAW to TAW), so they are needed for the simulation, right? Instead AquaCrop-OS model can run without .PRO or .PRM file)

.IRR -> IrrMngtClass
Where can be get parameter AppEff?

The irrigation methods possible with the .IRR file are:

1: Specification of irrigation events;

Therefore it is necessary to provide:
-The number of days after sowing / planting

  • The depth of application of net irrigation (mm)
  • The electrical conductivity (dS / m) of irrigation
    water

2: Generation of an irrigation program;

Therefore it is necessary to provide:

  • temporal criterion:
    1: Fixed interval;
    2: Admissible exhaustion (mm of water);
    3: Exhaustion allowed (% of RAW).

  • depth criterion:
    1: Back to the field capacity;
    2: Fixed depth of network application.

  • The number of days after sowing / planting from which the rule is valid (must be 1 for the 1st rule);

  • VALUES OF TIME CRITERIA:
    1: the fixed interval (days) between irrigations (for example 10 days);
    2: the amount of water (mm) that can be drained from the root zone (the reference is the water content of the soil to the capacity of the field) before applying an irrigation (for example 30 mm)
    3: The percentage of RAW that can be used up before the application of the irrigation water (for example 100%).

  • VALUES OF THE DEPTH CRITERIA:
    1: Extra water in addition to the amount of irrigation water needed to bring the root zone back to field capacity.
    The specified value can be zero (exact return to HR), positive (over-watering) or negative (under-watering)
    2: The depth of application of landline irrigation.

  • The Electrical Conductivity (dS / m) of the irrigation water.

3: Determination of the net irrigation water requirement;

Therefore it is necessary to provide:
-The depletion (% RAW) below which the soil watercontent in the main area may not go down (0% RAW corresponds to the field capacity).

I should match the above irrigation methods to the following irrigation methods:

0: rain

1: Soil Moisture Goals
So it is necessary to provide the soil moisture targets (% TAW) to be maintained in each growth phase.

2: set time interval
Therefore, it is necessary to provide an irrigation interval in days.

3: default program
So you need to provide dates and depth

4: net irrigation
Therefore it is necessary to provide the humidity level of the net irrigation threshold (% of TAW that will be maintained)

5: constant depth.
So you need to provide constant depth to apply every day

From what I can deduce:

  • “Specification of irrigation events” (1) corresponds to default program (3)
  • “Generation of an irrigation program” (2) with “fixed interval” time criterion (1) corresponds to “set time interval” (2)
  • “Generation of an irrigation program” (2) with time criterion of “permissible exhaustion (mm of water)” (2) corresponds to “constant depth” (5)
  • “Generation of an irrigation program” (2) with time criterion of “allowed exhaustion (% of RAW)” (3) corresponds to “soil moisture targets” (1)
  • “Determination of the net irrigation water requirement” (3) corresponds to “net irrigation” (4)

Are these matches right to you?

In AquaCrop-OS the soil water deplention is given in percentage of RAW, while in AquaCrop-OSPy is given in percentage of TAW; the converting formula is RAW = p x TAW, where p is the average fraction of Total Available Soil Water (TAW) that can be depleted from the root zone before moisture stress (reduction in ET) occurs, to me it seems to be the parameter “Adjustment factor for soil water depletion § by ETo” in line 13 (starting from 0) of file .PRO or .PRM; is it right?

Many thanks for your work and help.
